Tata Harper’s eponymous skincare line has become a cult beauty favorite. So when I saw her video on a DIY face mask that includes raw honey, I decided to revisit an old raw honey skin mask, a simple remedy to get smooth, hydrated skin.
Although you can do a multi-ingredient variation like Tata’s, this one calls for just one ingredient: honey. The key is to use raw, local honey–because it isn’t heated, the enzymes and nutrients are preserved and the slight grainy texture helps to physically exfoliate skin. Your local farmer’s market or health food store is a good place to look. Once you’ve found a good product, keep it in the kitchen so you can also use it in food.
Here’s how to do it:
1. Secure your hair so that it’s completely off your face.
2. Apply a thin layer of honey to your face and leave it for five minutes. You can massage your face gently while you wait.
3. Wash it off carefully with tepid water.
