Maca is a Peruvian superfood that’s used to boost energy and stamina and balance hormones. Although it can be taken in capsule form, maca is also available as a powder that can be blended into smoothies. It has a distinctive taste, so it’s best to add no more than a teaspoon to a smoothie to keep it from overpowering the taste.
For my maca smoothie, I blended 1/4 avocado, 1 cup of frozen mango pieces, 1/4 cup frozen blueberries, 2 teaspoons of vegan protein powder, 1 teaspoon of maca, and cold filtered water. I could taste the maca and the protein powder, but still enjoyed it. Learn more about maca.
