One of the few companies that makes an effort to package their products in cans that are free of bisphenol-A is Eden Foods. BPA-free cans cost more, which is why more companies haven’t made the switch yet, even though BPA is banned in other countries such as Canada for the potentially harmful effects on health.
When I buy canned beans, I only buy Eden Foods brand. It is very difficult to make non-BPA cans for tomato products due to the acidity, so Eden Foods has introduced a new crushed tomatoes product in glass jars. The lid lining still has some BPA but nearly the same as it being in the entire can lining. I usually buy my crushed or diced tomatoes in glass jars from Trader Joe’s or Whole Foods (I can’t remember the name of the brands), but I will give this a try. More companies need to make the switch!
